Welcome to the second of the Insect Investigators Meet the Taxonomist Series!
This webinar is intended for school students interested in insect and arthropod biodiversity. It is part of the Insect Investigators Citizen Science Project led by the South Australian Museum and involving 17 partner organisations. Any school can join the webinar, it is not limited to schools participating in Insect Investigators 2022.
Information will be pitched at upper primary level, but should be accessible by most ages if the teacher is able to either extend or simplify some sections.
In this series of webinars, we'll meet a variety of taxonomists (scientists who classify living things and describe new species).
Today we're meeting Dr Juanita Rodriguez! Juanita Rodriguez is a research scientist at the Australian National Insect Collection. Her research focuses on the evolution and diversity of spider wasps, although she also works on millipedes!
Juanita will share some of her research adventures, and then answer some questions from students.
A recording of the webinar will be available online through the Insect Investigators website (https://insectinvestigators.com.au). You can find our first webinar there now!
